Evocation
Siamo lieti presentare una nuova serie di disegni di Anna Cirillo; opere “preziose” realizzate con dedizione e maestria, perseguendo l’imperativo di “mimesis”, senza, però, cedere mai ad un virtuosismo fine a stesso o alla freddezza di un’esecuzione scolastica.
Le atmosfere magiche e mistiche evocano un sapere lontano; una saggezza che affonda le sue radici in tempi immemori, ma che non perde il suo fascino ed il suo significato, così come la stessa arte del disegno.
We are pleased to present a new series of drawings by Anna Cirillo;
“precious” works made with dedication and skill, pursuing the imperative of “mimesis”, without, however, ever yielding to a virtuosity as an end in itself or to the coldness of a scholastic performance.
The magical and mystical atmospheres evoke a distant knowledge; a wisdom that has its roots in time immemorial, but which does not lose its charm and its meaning, as well as the art of drawing itself.
Biografia
Anna Cirillo è nata il 21/11/1985 a Sarzana (La Spezia). Laureata in Pittura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara nel 2011. Di formazione classica, dopo la Laurea in Architettura si è specializzata in Pittura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara. Da sempre è affascinata da miti, leggende, allegorie e simbolismo. Le sue opere affrontano tematiche riconducibili alle pulsioni ed alle paure umane e i temi ricorrenti sono quelli della morte e del male. Il ciclo di opere più importante, realizzato tra il 2013 e il 2017, è intitolato The beauty of the beast: basato su teschi animali, si è concluso con una mostra personale presso la Galleria Barbara Frigerio di Milano. Il lavoro recente esplora i temi della magia e dell’esoterismo e vede un ritorno al disegno su carta.
Ha partecipato ad importanti manifestazioni artistiche nazionali ed internazionali tra cui ricordiamo “Accademia Italia” presso l’International cultural forum di San Pietroburgo nel 2018; “Here3” presso cavallerizza reale, Torino; la mostra personale “The beauty of the beast” presso la Barbara Frigerio Gallery, Milano nel 2017; il Premio Combat, Livorno del 2014 Finalista nella sezione pittura del Premio Arte di Cairo Editore, Milano.
Biography
ANNA CIRILLO, is born on 21/11/1985 in Sarzana (La Spezia). Graduated in Painting from the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. Classically trained, after graduating in Architecture she specialized in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. She has always been fascinated by myths, legends, allegories and
symbolism.
Her works deal with issues related to human impulses and fears and the recurring themes are those of death and evil.
The most important cycle of works, created between 2013 and 2017, is entitled The beauty of the beast: based on animal skulls, it ended with a solo exhibition at the Barbara Frigerio Gallery in Milan. Recent work explores the themes of magic and esotericism and sees a return to drawing on paper. She has participated in important national and
international artistic events, among which we mention “Accademia Italia” at International cultural forum of San Pietersburg in 2018; “Here3” at Cavallerizza reale, Torino; the solo show “The beauty of the beast” at Barbara Frigerio Gallery, Milani in 2017; Premio Combat, Livorno of 2014 Finalist in painting section of Premio Arte di Cairo Editore, Milan.
